HomeBuyer Programs
Welcome to National Faith HomeBuyers! Founded in 1996 by Dina Harris, our mission is to expand the American dream of homeownership to everyone. We do this by encouraging, educating and empowering families to take ownership of their lives and develop financially responsible behavior.
We understand that homeownership may seem like an impossible dream to many people. The process is complicated and confusing, especially to people who are embarking on the process for the first time or require assistance navigating the system.
National Faith HomeBuyers offers classes and seminars to prep first-time homebuyers for the homebuying experience, called homebuyer assistance programs. We walk our clients through the process while providing other resources to educate and inform them of their options. Some of our classes and services include:
Through these offerings, we are committed to empowering our clients to achieve homeownership and stop foreclosures. We always strive to do what’s best for the client in a kind, compassionate and nonjudgmental way. Everyone at National Faith and our clients have the same goal: to purchase and stay in a home.
Since our founding in 1996, we have counseled over 7,000 families, which has led to over 1,000 first time home purchases.
If you’d like to learn more about us or get involved, please call (313) 255-9500 to reach our Detroit office and call (678) 553-3770 to get in touch with our Atlanta office or fill out our contact form.
We are also expanding! National Faith HomeBuyers now has locations in Detroit, Westland and Atlanta.
National Faith HomeBuyer’s Story
National Faith Homebuyers was first started in Washtenaw County in 1996. Our founder and executive director, Dina Harris, wanted to create a program to help other people like herself: those who wanted to buy a home for the first time but needed extra help achieving that goal. She also has over 40 years of experience in the housing industry and brings that expertise with her to all National Faith clients.
What was the Washtenaw Homebuyers Program moved to Detroit, and National Faith HomeBuyers was born. Dina has helmed our nonprofit organization ever since then.
Every person you’ll encounter at National Faith HomeBuyers is not only knowledgeable about the homebuying process, but truly cares about the clients. We’ll be with you every step of the way, from the first information session to the closing on your very own home.
Although the organization started in Washtenaw and moved to Detroit, National Faith is expanding to provide first time homebuyer assistance all across the country. We have locations in Detroit, Westland, Michigan, and Atlanta. Our goal is to help people across the nation become homeowners.
Just like our beginnings in Washtenaw, we are committed to providing the best first-time homebuyer education there is, especially to people who need some extra guidance.
Our Mission
Our mission is to assist our clients in realizing the American dream of homeownership. Our program provides individuals and families with resources, knowledge, and financial assistance to become homeowners. We will also assist homeowners to prevent and/or avoid foreclosure.
Many clients come to us thinking they’ll never be able to buy a home, or that foreclosure is the only option. Here, we strive to change that. Our goal is to get clients in their very first homes or keep them in their homes.
Resources We Offer
Buying a home can be a daunting experience, especially if it is your first time. National Faith Homebuyers is dedicated to walking each client through the process while educating them on fiscal responsibility, and the joys and burdens of homeownership.
